Abia governorship: Ikpeazu insists he is still governor, faults INEC's issuance of Certificate of return to Uche Ogah
Earlier today, INEC issued a certificate of return to a member of PDP, Uche Ogah, following an order by the Abuja Federal High Court on Monday June 27th, mandating the electoral body to immediately issue Certificate of Return to Ogah who came second at the PDP primaries in the state in 2014. The state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has released a statement reacting to the development, According to him, he remains the Governor of the state since he has filed an appeal against the ruling.
Read his statement below
I have received with concern, report of the purported issuance of Certificate of Return to Mr. Uche Ogah by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as governor of Abia State, despite dependency of a notice of appeal and motion for stay of the orders made by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Our laws are clear on this matter. No one may be issued with a certificate of return let alone be sworn in as governor, when there is a subsisting appeal and application for stay.
I want to appeal to Abians to remain calm and law abiding in the face of this provocation, unless and until the appellant courts have conclusively resolve the appeal, the status remains, I am still the Governor of Abia State.

Iggy Azalea called off her engagement to Nick Young after he confessed he got his baby mama pregnant
When Iggy Azalea announced on her IG page that she had ended her engagement to LA Lakers star, Nick Young earlier this month, she said she couldn't 'rebuild' her trust in him. Now we know why she wrote that.Nick Young's baby mama Keonna Green, whom he already has a 4 year old son (Nick Young Jr) with, is currently pregnant with his second child. He got Keona pregnant while he and Iggy were still engaged.
According to Life & Style:
"Nick waited until Keonna was four months pregnant to tell Iggy the news,". Nick told Iggy that "he was drunk and had a lapse in judgment.
"He said it was a one-night stand and will never happen again," the source told the Life & Style. "But it's too late. He is having another son!"
'This is something she can’t ignore, and it ruined their future together.' the insider said.Life & Style claim they approached Keonna Green last week and she confirmed that she was pregnant and that the pregnancy was an accident. But she refused to comment further.
FCT Court did not sack Sheriff – Oladipo
Ousted chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff has dismissed the report of his sack by a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, describing the report as “false and a clear misrepresentation of the ruling of the court.”
This was contained in a statement signed by Professor Adewale Oladipo, the National Secretary, who said the court delivered its judgement on certain amendments, which have nothing to do with the leadership of Sheriff.
The statement reads in part:
“Our attention has been drawn to reports circulating in the media that a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has ousted the National Chairman of the PDP, Sen. Ali-Modu Sheriff.
“This is completely false and a clear misrepresentation of the ruling of the court as it never gave any ruling ousting the National Chairman.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the court only heard and delivered judgment on a matter concerning certain amendments in the PDP constitution, which has nothing to do with the election of Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the National Chairman or even that of his predecessor, Alhaji Adamu Muazu.
“Senator Ali Modu Sheriff was duly elected as the National Chairman of the PDP. He still holds office as the National Chairman and has not been removed by any court.
“We therefore urge those misleading the media and the unsuspecting public to desist from such. The media is also urged to always crosscheck their facts before going to press,” he stated.

On what he admires most about his daughter, Eric mentioned her dedication to her family, despite her fame:

Presidency Stops Gov. Yahaya Bello From Traveling Abroad For Hajj
Security agents last weekend prevented Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello from boarding a Turkish airline flight for a planned trip to Saudi Arabia for lesser hajj.
According to Kogi Reports, when Bello went to the office of the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo to get clearance for his trip to Saudi Arabia, his request was turned down by the Vice President who advised him to go back to his state and settle workers unpaid salaries.
But he turned deaf ears to the vice president’s advice, and headed to the airport where he was prevented from traveling.
According to an airport source, security men stationed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja seized Bello’s traveling documents and told him they would not allow him to travel abroad unless they received clearance from the presidency.
The action of the men however, appears to be an instruction from the presidency.
The source said the governor had arrived the Abuja airport for the 11:10 a.m. Turkish Airlines flight to Turkey where he would have connected another flight to Saudi Arabia.
But after Bello had been checked in by the airline and was about to complete immigration formalities, his documents were confiscated by the Security men at the immigration cubicle where he was told that he could not travel.
“The security men were shown relevant traveling documents, by the governor, but the officers said they have no choice in the documents and that they weretion from above that they should not allow him to travel.”
The development caused confusion at the airport and delayed the Turkish Airline flight. Bello’s luggage was however later unloaded to allow the flight proceed on its journey without the governor.
Recall that the Organized labor on Monday started a strike to compel the Kogi State Government to pay outstanding salaries owed to workers in the State as the governor threatened to invoke the “no work, no pay” rule.
Labor directed all workers to remain at home following the expiration of a 21-day ultimatum issued to the State government to pay all outstanding salaries and allowances.

Halima Abubakar insists she's not interested in marriage, says it's overrated
Is it really? I don't think so...I think it's a beautiful thing if you find the right partner but the actress thinks it's not and says she has no immediate plans to be a Mrs, as there's no happiness or genuine love these days. Speaking with Encomium magazine, she said;
Marriage has been overrated. It’s unnecessarily over rated. It’s just too much of headache with how things are now. Even ordinary relationship is a huge burden, huge headache and heartbreaking, let alone marriage. When you can’t stand each other as boyfriend and girlfriend, how would you live together under the same roof when you get married?
People need to know themselves seriously. When I say seriously, I mean spiritually before getting married. People only know themselves physically, not spiritually, so they end up getting bored with each other. And they will say they don’t want to get divorce because of what society would say after investing so much on the marriage.
They stay in that marriage and later it may become very irritating and they start fighting. Before they know it, everything becomes violent. You hear people say all sorts of things. You’re the one who allowed people to get to you and start telling you you’re getting old. You’re the one allowing them to convince you that you’re getting old, you need to get married. Everyone will surely get old. Who won’t get old? So, when people say I am getting old, get married, I would tell them that’s the only thing they know. People carry marriage like a flag.
Asked if it means she's not going to get married, she said;
No, people should only try to be nice about marriage to make me interested in it. Don’t tell me actresses don’t stay in marriage. Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva have been married for long and they’re still in the marriage. Nothing happened to their union. Omotola and her husband have been married for long; they’re still very much together. She got married at a young age which is good. What I am trying to say is that going into marriage needs a lot; you don’t just go into it. My elder sister got married at 26 and she’s doing fine in the marriage with her husband. Now, tell me why won’t I want a family like that? But these days, people are just too much into social media, that’s why marriages are crashing. Marriage these days is not based on happiness and genuine love. Let me ask, who is that poor person that has married a billionaire son? So, why won’t marriage crash when it’s not based on happiness and genuine love?

21-year-old student sentenced to life in prison for killing her newborn baby by throwing her in the trash
Former college student who gave birth in her sorority house last year was on Monday, June 27, sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing the newborn by throwing her in the trash.
Emile Weaver, 21, of Clarington was found guilty by a jury last month of aggravated murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence.
Prosecutors said Weaver gave birth in a bathroom at the Delta Gamma Theta sorority at Muskingum University on April 22, 2015, then purposefully caused the death of her baby.
The baby girl died from asphyxiation after Weaver put her in a plastic trash bag and left the bag outside the sorority house.
Weaver testified at trial that she had been in denial about the pregnancy and thought the baby was already dead when she put the newborn in the trash bag. She tearfully apologized in court and said she will appeal the sentence.
Judge Mark Fleegle could have sentenced Weaver to life with a chance for parole in as little as 20 years, which was requested by her attorney, but the judge said he wasn't convinced she was remorseful.
Fleegle referred to text messages from Weaver sent afterward to the man she thought was the baby's father that said, "No more baby," followed by "taken care of."
Prosecutors said at trial that Weaver knew she was pregnant all along and engaged in risky behaviors like drinking alcohol, smoking marijuana, and playing in a dodgeball tournament because she never intended to keep the baby.
Weaver wrote in a letter to Fleegle before her sentencing that she didn't fully comprehend her actions until she was staring at the body of the baby, who was named Addison, in a tiny casket at her funeral.
"I ask God for forgiveness, and today, all I can do is ask for all of yours," she said in court.
At the beginning of the trial, Weaver had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, but the judge ruled that she was mentally competent.
Muskingum County Prosecutor D. Michael Haddox said he was satisfied with the sentence.
"We believe justice has been served as best as humanly possible," he said.

CAN accuses President Buhari of Lopsided appointment
The Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) have faulted the appointments made so far by the President Buhari led government, stating that it has been lopsided.
In a statement released to newsmen in Jos, Plateau state yesterday June 27th, the group said men and women of honor and integrity abound in all parts of Nigeria and that more appointments should be drawn from there
"The appointment of key federal positions is clearly skewed to favour either a particular religion or region. We believe this does not reflect the unity of Nigeria, equity, fairness or federal character principles. Men and women of honour and integrity abound in every religion, tribe or region capable of handling important government positions.”the statement read in part...
Synagogue: Court Rules Over Admission Of Video Of Collapsed Building Today
Justice Lafeet Lawal-Akapo of the Lagos State High Court in Lagos will today (Tuesday) decide whether or not to admit into evidence a Compact Disc (CD) video recording of the collapse building belonging to Syanagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN).
Justice Lawal-Akapo fixed the date during the ongoing trial of the Registered Trustees of the Synagogue Church and the two engineers that constructed the collapsed building,
Oladele Ogundeji and Akinbela Fatiregun their companies, Hardrock Construction and Engineering Company and Jandy Trust Limited and the Registered Trustees of the Synagogue Church who were arraigned before the court by the Lagos State government on a 111 count charge of criminal negligence, manslaughter and failure to obtain building permit.
At the resumed hearing of the matter yesterday, the defence led by Chief Efe Akpofure (SAN) objected to the admissibility of the CD during continuation of the testimony of Mr Olutoyin Ayinde, a former Lagos State Commissioner of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
The CD is purportedly containing a Close Circuit Television (CCTV) recording of an aircraft hovering above the building moments before its collapse.
Akpofure said: “I am objecting My Lord in the first place to the admissibility of document sought to be tendered by the prosecution because it has been labeled by the witness as being computer generated.
“Going by the evidence of the witness who said ‘until I watch the CD, I won’t be in a position to ascertain whether this is the video I am referring to in my evidence.’ This witness is not in a position to tender this evidence until he sees the content and identifies same.

"If you see someone with acne, please mind your business!" OAP Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi writes
Beat FM OAP Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi took to Instagram to share her battle with acute acne. She also described as insensitive, the constant unsolicited advice, questions and suggestions that women who suffer from acne face daily. She wrote;
"Before you say something insensitive to anyone about the pimples on their face or give some unsolicited advice on how the person can get clear skin.....read this ! The 1st pic on the left was what my face looked like on both sides - January and February this year.
I was very worried about it and I reluctantly took the advice of my dermatologist to take a blood test. What does blood have to do with acne ? The results showed I was over producing a particular hormone and the result was the massive pimples on my face. It had nothing to do with oil or groundnut or all the other mythical things people usually say cause acne.
I reluctantly did a face peel and had to take meds to adjust the hormone level (not accutane) .
The middle pic was March and the pic on the right is May/June. I currently don't have a single bump on my face. I have scars and that's fine with me . Scars over acne any day!! Everywhere I went (Bank, eatery , events etc) people (mostly strangers) would walk up to me to prescribe all sorts ! From urine to sperm to "facials" to special soaps and concoctions.
If you see someone with acne , please mind your business! Especially if you are not close to the person. It's very frustrating to have conversations about your own face with total strangers every day. Shoutout to my dermatologist for convincing me to try because I had already given up ! He is tagged on the pics"

Rivers Govt denies withdrawing N11bn, tells EFCC to operate within the law
The attention of the Rivers State Government has been drawn to a publication in The Punch newspaper of Friday, 24/06/ 2016. The report alleges that one “Mr Kinsgsely Fubara”, said to be a Director of Finance and Administration, in the Rivers State Government House, made repeated financial withdrawals from the Central Bank of Nigeria and Zenith Bank, to the tune of 11 billion Naira.
According to the report, the “suspicious withdrawals” on behalf of the Rivers State Government were made between December 2015 and February 2016.
The government categorically denies this fabricated and irresponsible publication by the Punch.
The Rivers State Government never conducted such financial transactions and the report is patently false.
The Rivers State Government has no record of any staff known as Kingsely Fubara. This must be a fictional character created by the All Progressives Congress (APC)) and the Punch newspaper to embarrass the State Government and deceive the public.
The Punch report also indicated that the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe these so-called withdrawals. Such a directive, if true, would be a manifestly illegal and ridiculous proposition.
By law, the Rivers State Government is accountable to the Rivers State House of Assembly and the people of Rivers State, not to the Attorney General of the Federation.
This is a totally fictitious report typically orchestrated by the APC and its media allies.
But the story raises fundamental questions about the moral horror that confronts a nation where an anti-graft agency becomes openly partisan in all its intentions and actions.
There is universal concern that the EFCC is playing an extremely corrosive role in the current political dispensation. Rather than fight corruption in a professional and dispassionate manner, the EFCC behaves shamelessly like an integral organ of the APC.
An anti-graft commission that targets only opposition politicians and critics of the failed policies of the APC government is a national embarrassment.
Has the EFCC ever heard of one Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State and current Minister of Transport? Despite receiving over three trillion Naira in eight years as governor, Amaechi left the most abandoned projects in the history of Rivers State, since 1967. Several petitions against Amaechi, supported by sworn affidavits, have all been summarily ignored by the EFCC.
Even chieftains of the APC have publicly acknowledged Rotimi Amaechi’s stupendous financial contributions to the party’s presidential campaign in 2015. These financial contributions, estimated to be in billions of Naira, constitute serious financial crime against the people of Rivers State.
The Government and people of Rivers State will resist any politically-motivated targeting of its leaders by any agency of the Federal Government, by whatever name it is called.
Signed:
Dr. Austin Tam-George,
Commissioner for Information and Communication,
Rivers State.
